Goals and Objectives

The goals and objectives of the Prescott Unified School district, regarding purchasing are:

  1. Buy the right material, of the right quality, in the proper quantity, at the right time, from the proper source at the best price.

  2. Standardize educational supplies, equipment, computers and software as far as possible without interfering with the success of the educational program.

  3. Reduce the overhead cost of buying by reducing and streamlining the flow of paperwork.

  4. Improve the speed of deliveries to users by performing purchasing action when the need is made known.

  5. Enforce contractual obligations.

  6. Instill interest in bidding by all responsible vendors who can furnish services or materials to meet the District's specifications.

  7. Obtain fair and open competition among bidders.

  8. Treat bidders and their bids on an equal basis.

arrow Code of Purchasing Standards

As advocated by the Arizona Association of School Business Officials, the following code is adapted by the Prescott Unified School District.

  1. To regard public service as a sacred trust, giving primary consideration to the interests of the District by which we are employed.

  2. To purchase without prejudice, seeking to obtain the maximum benefit for each tax dollar expended.

  3. To avoid unfair practices, giving all qualified vendors an equal opportunity.

  4. To respect our obligations, and to require that obligations to us and our District be respected.

  5. To accord vendor representatives the same courteous treatment we expect to receive.

  6. To strive constantly for improvement of purchasing methods and of the materials we buy.

  7. To conduct ourselves with fairness and dignity, and to demand honesty and truth in buying and selling.

  8. To cooperate with all organizations and individuals engaged in enhancing the development and standing of the purchasing profession.

  9. To remember that everything we do reflects on the District and to govern our every action accordingly.
