This is a study of non-continuous mathematical problems and is based on real-world applications such as ranking methods, election theory, estate division, delivery systems, graph theory, map coloring. Students that want to go on in mathematics, but do not want to take calculus, will find this class interesting and challenging. There is an emphasis on group work, group presentations, self-discipline, and independent thinking.

A graphing calculator is required, preferably the TI-83 or TI-84.
