| This is a class in critical thinking and academic writing. English 101 is designed to prepare each student for a successful career in both academic and non-academic endeavors. Writing involves complex interactions between writers, readers, and subject matters, so we will be looking at how our audiences, our topics, and our own abilities as writers influence our communication. Second semester composition involves continued development of skills acquired and honed in English 101. Course requirements include a research paper, critical essays on literature, midterm and final examinations, and exams on various aspects of the course. Students will concentrate on the 8-12 page literary research paper, including supporting materials, and concepts necessary for the critical study of fiction, drama, and poetry. | |
