Discipline Policy & Procedures
A student who engages in conduct prohibited by school policy may be disciplined.
Discipline may include, but is not limited to, any one or any combination of the
following: oral reprimand, parent/guardian conference; confiscation of personal
property; restitution; temporary exclusion from the classroom; revocation of open
campus privileges; loss of privileges; loss of credit; detention; home-assignment;
withdrawal from class; in-school suspension; out of school suspension; or expulsion.
Continued open defiance of authority, continued disruptive or disorderly behavior,
violent behavior which includes use or display of a dangerous instrument or a deadly
weapon as defined in A.R.S. section 13-105, use or possession of a gun, or excessive
absenteeism, constitute good causes for expulsion. (A.R.S. 15-841—Responsibilities
of Pupils.)
This Policy is intended to regulate conduct of a student when the student is (1) on
school grounds or at a school sponsored event; (2) traveling to or from school or a
school sponsored event; (3) engaged in misconduct that is in any other manner school
related or adversely affects the operation of any school; and (4) behavior that
brings disrespect to the school.
If a student withdraws from school after receiving notice of possible long-term
suspension the Governing Board may continue with the action after the withdrawal and
may record the results of such action in the student’s permanent file.
