Career & Technical Education

START A CAREER ! Take Co-op!
PHS Cooperative Education

What is Co-op?  PHS Cooperative Education (Co-op) is Prescott High School's career education program. Students progress through a vocational sequence and are recommended to the program. After being interviewed and accepted, students will be assisted in job placement with emphasis on skills development, not wages. State Standards include conducting a job search, applying and securing employment, and succeeding on the job. A shortened schedule during a student's senior year allows time to hold employment 15 hours weekly.

What courses should I take? That depends on what you are interested in and what career goals you have. To be eligible for Co-op enrollment, a student must complete a program sequence consisting of the following, all in the same program area, leading to Co-op:

A Level I Course

A Level II Course

And a Level III Course

Level I courses are usually middle school courses, as follows:

Granite Mountain Middle School
Keyboarding ; Life Skills ; Intro Computers
Prescott Mile High Middle School
Life Skills ; Key & Appl's; Tech & Comps
Prescott High School
#0011 Computer Applications

Level 2 and 3 courses are listed below as the vocational sequence through which a student must progress for Co-op. In addition, a number of the courses are eligible for dual credit between Prescott High School and Yavapai College in a program called Tech-Prep.  Look for the tech-prep link on the individual course description pages.
