I have dreamed of concreting this area for about two years and thanks to Mr. Jimmie McConnell and his volunteer efforts, the Eagle Patio will become a reality.
Please email me or call me at 533 8401 if you are planning on helping. By the way we need to borrow 4 large wheel barrows…

HAPPY SPRING BREAK !!
PARENTS:
The grades are final, posted in the classrooms and exported to the school computer. If your cadet did not make the grade you were expecting, please ask about their community service. The documentation forms were handed out 7 Jan and were due 12 March at the end of school. Late forms were not accepted. 10 hours a quarter is required (for 10% of grade) and 15 hours is allowed for extra credit. If a cadet chooses to not do community service, then the highest grade they can make is 90. If they do 15 hours then they could make a 105.
I was NOT impressed with the community service this quarter and the grades reflect the lack of effort. Quite a few cadets have chosen grades TWO letter grades lower than they could have made had they been responsible with paperwork.
Col Peeples
IT’S NOT WHAT WE CAN DO; IT’S WHAT WE DO.
Col Peeples:
Congratulations on finishing third quarter in style with the first ever Dining Out hosted by our Booster Club and the first ever overnight ASLA trip, this time to Kitt Peak, the Titan Missile Museum and the University of Arizona.

PHS ORIENTEERING PLACES THIRD IN CHAMPIONSHIP
Colonel Denny A Peeples 03 Mar 2008
Badgers Rule !!!!
The 2007/8 Orienteering Season has ended. I’ve just been notified that Cadets Michael Martinez and Brandon Matson won third in the Southwestern Regional Orienteering Championship (NM, TX, AZ, NV) held this past Saturday at the Lake Pleasant Orienteering Complex. The Badgers found all 26 points in the correct sequence in a hilly, cactus strewn 25 sq mile playfield and returned to the start point in 1 hour and 46 minutes. 857 two-man teams compete for the 35 SW regional championship berths and Martinez / Matson bring home third place !!!. 1st year = 14th in the SW, 2nd year = 3rd in the Southwest. Great job !!!
The first meet of 2008/9 year was also held Saturday and Cadet Hayden Lienau ( ASLA corps commander) and Cadet Maynard (Orienteering Commander) placed second out of 117 teams. Congrats, leading by example, headed to the championship in one year !!!
More importantly:
Cadet Mitch Hogue & Cadet Tristan Wagon were given spot promotions due to outstanding citizenship displayed during competition on the Orienteering Course Saturday. Their promotion orders read:
The cadets were given a spot promotion because of outstanding performance during an Orienteering Meet, 1 March 2008 at Lake Pleasant, AZ. Cadets Wagon and Hogue helped rescue an injured cadet during the competition portion and get him back to medical assistance. They disregarding their own competition and gave up the possibility of winning the event to help a stranger. GREAT JOB DOING GREAT THINGS !!!
Thanks for your support

Subject: Congratulations to the PHS ASLA Program
A special congratulations goes to Col. Denny Peeples, Sgt. Cal Martinez, and the PHS ASLA Cadets for the fantastic review they received from Col. Belch representing the Air Force JROTC Programs today. The ASLA Unit earned the Exceeding Label in the twelve main categories, and they earned either a Meets Standards or Exceeds Standards in all of the 123 areas which comprise these twelve main areas. Col. Belch compared the PHS Unit, which has only been in existence for two years, to a top unit that has been in operation for twelve to fifteen years. So, when you see these fine young men and women, as well as their two instructors, please let them know that you appreciate the job they have done in such a short time.
Col Peeples:
I would to thank every cadet making us into the unit that we are today. I’ve been saying all along that what we are doing here in Prescott is unusual and not the norm for AFJROTC unit: core credits, college credits, three varsity sports, three clubs, and extraordinary CIA trips all in a cadet run operation…
Special recognition for Cadet Lienau and Cadet Stone, selected as ‘outstanding performers’ in preparing for the inspection. Great work for the Honor Guard, AM and PM who did an outstanding job raising and lowering the flag (as usual). Also deserving special KUDOS are Cadet Rooper, who made our uniforms perfect and Cadet Salas who counted and recounted and labeled our equipment. THANK YOUR FOR YOUR HARD WORK !!!! You are doing great things !!! Col Belche visited us in the Fall of 2006 when I was opening the unit in chaos without Cal, his first words, “Gosh, Denny everything seems so smooth !!!” thanks Cal J.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thank you for your Tax Credit generosity to ASLA in 2007. Because of your choice to keep your state taxes here in your home town, ASLA will combine the tax credit monies with USAF grants to continue to send your cadets on rather amazing high school Curriculum-In-Action trips.
Proposed: (will be presented to PUSD School Board 4, 11 March for required out-of-state approval)
26, 27 March: “Top Cadet Trip”, 12 top academic cadets + 3 chaperones to San Diego to see the USS SAMPSON. (Cadet Roos’s Dad is the Commander J, thanks Phil)
16-18 April: Dingo & EZ (Space Science classes) to Vandenberg AFB, CA, the USAF western space port to see space operations trainings and actual launch pads
29 April: Blacksheep & Casino flights to Luke AFB to stand near an F-16 and feel the sound of freedom !!
Please donate hand tissues and hand sanitizer to ASLA. Just send them in with you cadets. We are in desperate need of those sanitary items and they disappear so quickly in these winter months.
Alumni News:
Congrats to ASLA Alumni Heather Watts who just finished her final game on the PHS Girl’s Soccer Team. Heather wants to see the world and be a pilot. She is a college recruited scholar-athlete and has been conditionally offered an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, a $387,000, 4 year scholarship. Heather has been invited by the coaches to visit the Academy in Feb. We are very proud of you Heather, go girl!!!!
Congrats:
ASLA Color Guard presented the Colors at the Prescott Chamber of Commerce annual stockholders meeting at the Prescott Resort Wed. Cadets, Anthony McComack, Michael McComack, Agrait and Weeks enjoyed, thanks to Mr. David Maurer, former Chamber President, a rather outstanding surf and turf lunch for high school kids J. Although the cadets were nervous to sit with PUSD Superintendent Kevin Kapp, PUSD Board President Dee Navarro and members Dr Joan Fleming and Mr. Steve Campbell, they made you proud and acted with perfect decorum and professional behavior. AMAZING huh, wish they could do that at home ?? ;) The Color Guard also, the same day, presented colors at the PHS Girls Soccer Team State Playoff game. Good job guys !!!
