This is a first year ASLA course designed to acquaint students with coeducational, non-traditional physical education such as crab ball, gym handball, gym hockey, ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, navigation, orienteering, and dictator baseball. This course is taught by the ASLA and required by the US Air Force to also include a mixed curriculum of leadership education of citizenship, character, and a Journey into Aviation History. All PHS PE students participate in the Sex Education program, which requires parental approval. Students are required to go on co-curriculum-in-action field trips.

Freshman ASLA students must maintain courtesy, grooming, and professional standards but do not wear blue USAF uniforms for the first semester. Students dress out on Thursdays only, wearing an ASLA unit t-shirt/sweatshirt.
