SUBSTITUTE PAY
The rate of pay for substitute teaching is set annually by the Governing Board at budget time. The current approved rate schedule is as follows:
Daily Rate - $75
Long Term - $85
(Long term pay begins on the 21st consecutive day of same assignment)
Prescott High School, Northpoint, and Middle Schools:
1 Period - $15
2 Periods - $30
3 Periods - $45
4 Periods - $60
5 Periods - $75
Please note: Wednesdays are early dismissal days at the above mentioned schools and the pay will be the full daily rate of $75.
Elementary Schools:
1/4 Day (2 hrs.)* - $19
1/2 Day (3.5 hrs.) - $38
3/4 Day (5.5 hrs.) - $56.25
*Based on a working day that begins at 7:45 am and concludes at 3 pm, equaling 7.25 hours.
Substitute Teachers
Prescott Unified School District's standards are high, and we are constantly involved in the pursuit of excellence in our educational programs. Adhering to the same high standards as regular teachers, our substitutes are considered an important part of the educational program. They contribute much to the children of this community.
QUALIFICATIONS/GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS IN PUSD
Possess a valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching certificate from the Arizona State Department of Education
Possess a valid Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance card
Have completed an application and other forms necessary for employment with PUSD
Have registered and trained on SMART FIND EXPRESS (S.F.E.), our automated sub caller system
Have a telephone or a message number
Provide your own transportation
The Arizona teaching certificate allows you to substitute teach an unlimited number of days each year. A substitute certificate limits you to 120 substitute days per year in the same classroom.
